  • Guided Tour - Join one of our interpreters for a personalized tour of the home of politician and Confederation advocate F. Gordon Bradley and discover life in Newfoundland and Labrador in the 1930s.

  • Try your Hand - Try some period toys and games while in the Library. They were definitely challenging.

  • Get Creative - What does Canada mean to you? Write a message on one of our Canada birthday cards to leave in the Mockbeggar library.

  • For the Kids - Travel through time with your children at our new Creative Kids Space at the Mockbegger Plantation Library. Crafts, toys, and games are waiting to be discovered.

  • On the Grounds -Borrow a picnic blanket and enjoy our expansive lawn with a great ocean view. Watch for whales and icebergs! Explore the vegetables and flowers growing around the Mockbeggar Plantation.

  • The Road to Canada - Explore newspapers from the late 1940s to see both sides of the Confederation debates. Listen to excerpts from the Confederation debates including speeches from Joey Smallwood and F. Gordon Bradley

Canada Day

July 1, 2018

Celebrate Canada's birthday at the home of Confederation advocate F. Gordon Bradley! Enjoy a garden party atmosphere on our front lawn with activities for the whole family. Music by Craig Young with Bob & Steve, and refreshments. See if you can win the blue ribbon at the sack race and other traditional games. Finish up the day with some birthday cake. Strange Stories

Enjoy a lantern tour of the Bradley Home at the Mockbeggar Plantation and hear tales of phantom visitors, slamming doors and mysterious talking, singing and parties. Finish your evening off with light refreshments and music at the Big Store. There are many strange stories about this area of Bonavista - you might leave with one of your own.
