  • Guided Tour - Join one of our interpreters for a personalized tour and discover how the colonists lived in the early 17th century.

  • Try your Hand - Discover what the archeologists have found and get a chance to dig yourself.

  • For the Kids - Pick up a backpack and a picnic blanket at the front desk and head outside to play. Backpacks contain activities, toys and games to guide your exploration of the Cupids Cove Plantation.

  • On the Grounds - Borrow a picnic blanket from the front desk to enjoy a nice day out on our grounds. Explore the plants in the 17th century vegetable garden.

Historic Places Day

Historic places tell us the stories that brought Canada to life, teach us about our heritage in a way history class can't and, for some, give us a sense of identity. Celebrate Historic Places Day with a visit to one of our Provincial Historic Sites!

The settlers at the Cupids Cove Plantation grew, foraged and hunted to sustain themselves and their community. Join Cod Sound's Lori McCarthy as we explore the food that the colonists at Cupids may have eaten. Lori McCarthy has been picking wild edibles since a young child and in recent years has been foraging for some of St. John's top restaurants.

Note: Experience is weather dependent. Alternate date for inclement weather is August 4, 2018.

Hiking Crout's Way

A guided wilderness hike. September 7th

September 7, 2018, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm

Includes a picnic lunch and transportation from Cupid's Cove Plantation to the departure point and return

Join us for an epic adventure from the oldest English settlement in Canada. Explore how early settlers and the Beothuk used the resources available to them to survive and live on the Avalon Peninsula by hiking a portion of Crout's Way trail with costumed interpreters & black powder demonstrations. There's a lot to discover.

Note this adventure crosses rough terrain and is for experienced hikers. It is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or medical conditions that would preclude physical activity. Participants should bring all required items for a hike of this nature; food, water, sunscreen; bug repellent, appropriate clothing and footwear. The hike will pass through some wet areas so having waterproof footwear is a must. Participants must pre-book.
