Ongoing Experiences

Included with price of admission.

May 20, 2017

  • Guided Tour - Join one of our knowledgeable interpreters for a tour of the interpretation centre which has artifacts and dioramas about the Beothuk and archeology at the site.
  • Spirit Garden - A short boardwalk trail from the interpretation centre leads to the Spirit Garden. This is dedicated as a place for reflection on the lives of the Beothuk peoples, their culture, and the impact first contact had on them. It is a place of healing and reconciliation where you may find your own spirit. The Beothuk often hung tokens from trees & visitors are encouraged to leave their own offering to honour the Beothuk. You can collect suitable natural materials in the centre to make your own.
  • Family Discovery Packs - Check out a Discovery Pack to guide your family's exploration of the Beothuk Interpretation Centre and trails. Coming this season!
  • Discover the Beothuk - Follow a 1.5 km groomed walking trail to view the location where the Beothuk lived 300 years ago. Along the trail, look for the sculpture titled The Spirit of the Beothuk designed by renowned Newfoundland artist Gerald Squires.
  • Film - Enjoy a short film where you can hear from Dr. Ralph Pastore who discovered the Boyd's Cove Site in the early 1980s. Discover what led archaeologists to this site.
  • Aboriginal Games - Try your hand at games played by some of the aboriginal peoples that live in Newfoundland and Labrador today. Games include Spear the Caribou, Buzzers, and Waltes. If it's a nice day grab one of our picnic blankets and bring your game outside.
